We are regularly asked:
" How can I best style | arrange my cupboard?"

First of all, we would like to say that everyone has to do it in their own way! It's your closet and it's your home accessories. So style the wardrobe the way you want!

But we'll start with: What exactly is a shelving unit?
A shelved cupboard, which is also an open cupboard, regularly tells the story of the people person living there | lives. In such a cupboard you can also beautifully present your own personal items exhibit. Think of souvenirs, but also photo frames, altars, etc. Combine this with beautiful home accessories and you have a very beautiful whole that is just right for you | hears you.

You also regularly see a shelving unit combined with closed doors. These cupboards are ideal for hiding even more things in them, such as games, books, supplies, toys, etc. That's what you don't want to leave so open and exposed but still want to store in your room. Be sure to make use of that. If you want to keep things tidy in those cupboards, use stacking boxes or other boxes that you can easily fill.

But to give advice, we have written 10 TIPS :

1. Colour
   Keep it quiet in a cupboard. Don't use too many different colors. We often recommend 3 different color shades. But also look at the colors you already use in your interior throughout the room. Ton Sur Ton, your cupboard also plays a major role. But also use contrast colors. For example, if your closet is black, use lighter colors such as white, beige, cream. If you kept everything black it would quickly become boring!
   
   
2. Vary heights
   Use various different accessories in different heights. Put a candlestick in it. Then do a high one and a slightly lower one. But also consider a beautiful shell necklace on a standard in combination with a lantern. Or a very beautiful ornament.
   
   
3. Use different textures | materials | forms
   Play with various materials, such as glass, marble, wood, velvet, shells, coral. And use various shapes, round, square, oval, high, short. If you do this you get a very playful effect and it also becomes a lot more 'exciting' in your entire closet.
   
   
4. Personal accessories
   Also put your own personal items in it, such as souvenirs, but a beautiful photo in a beautiful photo frame is also a very nice eye-catcher! Or an altar made from a photo frame with a beautiful tea light holder on a beautiful marble tray.
   
   
5. Group your accessories
   Make groups of your accessories (again, the rule applies here, do this in odd numbers). This looks nicer.
   
   
6. Books
   Use luxury books and lay them flat on top of each other and place a beautiful ornament on top. Be careful not to use too many books because you will quickly get a bookcase effect and that is not what you want. A book stand with a beautiful book or photo album on it is also a very nice option.
   
   
7. Decorative cushions
   You regularly see that interior fanatics also place very beautiful luxurious decorative cushions in the cupboard. Do you want that too? Then choose a beautiful pillow that is also functional. So don't just put a pillow in it. That just makes it messy. (pppfff it's never good haha)
   
   
8. Short on space? Then create space.
   Are you still short on space? Or do you want to have some items in there, but it just doesn't look nice? Then place a few offering baskets, boxes, baskets in it, they look beautiful in a cupboard and you can store extra things in there. This way you get 2 in 1! But that also applies here: Less is more.
   
   
9. Plants Yes/No? Flowers?
   We are also sometimes asked: Can I put plants in it?
   Yes of course you can. This gives a lot of atmosphere and personality. But make sure that the plant does not take up too much space and is also airy. Or place a beautiful hanging plant on the top of the cupboard and let it fall down the side. But also consider beautiful artificial plants, nowadays you have much more choice and many are no longer distinguishable from real plants.
   About flowers, we would like to say: Yes, of course that is also possible. But our advice is: Buy a very nice vase and put silk flowers in it. Then you have an eye-catcher in your closet, you no longer have to worry about it and your closet will be completely brightened up. Of course you can also take a small vase with a small bouquet.
   
   
10. Candles in a cupboard
    To create atmosphere in a cupboard, you can play with candles. But be careful, real candles start to smoke, so we would give a tip: Or put tea candles in a nice lantern or play with LED candles . Nowadays they are also indistinguishable from real ones. The advantage of LED candles is that they are regularly fitted with a timer. So you have a cozy candlelight atmosphere in your closet at the same time every evening! And what is also an advantage: You can put them down like this. You no longer have to worry about them and they don't necessarily have to be on or in a candle holder.

- OUR VERY LAST BUT IMPORTANT TIP IS -
DON'T PUT TOO MUCH! KEEP IT AIRY!

The trick is not to put too much in it. This often makes it messy and then the entire effect of the cupboard is lost. So create peace and space and keep it light (this is a real challenge for many!) But it is better to regularly alternate with accessories than to cram everything in at once.
